Human Anatomy Upper Limb Thorax is an app for undergraduate students of Medicine
Human Anatomy Upper Limb Thorax is a comprehensive app for undergraduate students of Medicine. The app comprises of chapters on bones of upper limb, pectoral region, scapular region, forearm and hand, joints of upper limb, wall of thorax, thoracic cavity and the pleura, pericardium, and the heart. In addition, the book consists of several detailed diagrams and illustrations for the students to understand the concepts better. This app is essential for medical students preparing for various postgraduate medical entrance examinations.
The upper limb is divided into three regions. These consist of the arm, located between the shoulder and elbow joints; the forearm, which is between the elbow and wrist joints; and the hand, which is located distal to the wrist. There are 30 bones in each upper limb. The humerus is the single bone of the upper arm, and the ulna (medially) and the radius (laterally) are the paired bones of the forearm. The base of the hand contains eight bones, each called a carpal bone, and the palm of the hand is formed by five bones, each called a metacarpal bone. The fingers and thumb contain a total of 14 bones, each of which is a phalanx bone of the hand.
Identify the divisions of the upper limb and describe the bones in each region
List the bones and bony landmarks that articulate at each joint of the upper limb
The upper limb or upper extremity is the region in a vertebrate animal extending from the deltoid region up to and including the hand, including the arm, axilla and shoulder.
In formal usage, the term "arm" only refers to the structures from the shoulder to the elbow, explicitly excluding the forearm, and thus "upper limb" and "arm" are not synonymous.[2] However, in casual usage, the terms are often used interchangeably. The term "upper arm" is redundant in anatomy, but in informal usage is used to distinguish between the two terms.
this app is thoroughly revised and updated in accordance with the syllabus of anatomy recommended by the Medical Council. It covers in detail the anatomy of upper limb and thorax. The anatomy of heart and lungs is co-related clinically in depth. Following recent trends of anatomy education, the app in addition to basic information provides knowledge on anatomical/embryological/histological/genetic basis of common clinical problems through its features — Clinical Correlation and Clinical Case Study. Written in simple and easy-to-understand language, this profusely illustrated app provides the knowledge of anatomy without extraneous details. The specific learning objectives have been given in the beginning of each chapter to facilitate self-learning by the students.
