New Orleans or "NOLA", as its inhabitants affectionately call it ("New Orleans LA", where LA stands for Louisiana), or "The Big Easy", is a city in the United States of America and the main city of the State of Louisiana. The city takes its name from Orléans, a city located on the Loire River in France, and is well known for its French Creole architecture. The historic core of the city is the French Quarter, home to bars, restaurants and clubs where jazz is played. It is known for its rich cultural heritage, especially its music, its cuisine, and its colorful carnival (called Mardi Gras, in French Mardi Gras). It is also an industrial and distribution center and an important marine and river port. New Orleans, the city where "anything is possible", is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating and captivating metropolises of the United States.
