WHAT IS A COURSE IN MIRACLES – ORIGINAL EDITION?
The course is the result of collaboration between two psychologists from Columbia University:
Dr. William Thetford and his colleague, Dr. Helen Schucman.
In 1965 Helen experienced what she described as a voice speaking clearly in her head and
said: "This is a course in miracles. Please write along." With Bill Thetford's help and
Schucman received support in transcribing her shorthand notes via a

As she often explained, she heard a kind of inner dictate and felt compelled to listen to it

COURSE IN MIRACLES SOCIETY (CIMS)
The Course in Miracles Society (CIMS) is a non-profit organization
was founded in 2000. It is an international group of course students
and teachers who have come together to share the divine teachings of “A Course in
“Wonders” to research and spread.
As students, we seek to expand our knowledge of Jesus' words and our

WHY ARE BEADS ON THE COVER?
In the months before the dictation of A Course in Miracles began, Dr. Helen
Schucman a series of vivid waking and sleeping dreams. In three of these dreams
presented her with a book. It was thick and black and had large gold letters on it
the cover. In one of these dreams she saw it draped with a strand of pearls.
This image is featured in the artwork for this edition as a tribute to Dr. Schucman's
Perseverance and dedication to completing the course has become what can happen to the human mind that is dedicated to perfection
and uses the hard knocks of daily life as a stimulus for growth.
Pearls in linguistic usage:

would sell what you own to own it.
“Pearls of Wisdom”: Thoughts that illuminate and simplify thinking and peace
and bring clarity.
“A String of Pearls”: A veritable chain of wisdom and insight that spreads and
then interwoven as a series of brilliant flashes that illuminate the very dark world around us
brighten.
A pearl necklace is, in other words, the perfect symbol of "A Course in
Wonder!”
