The Criminal Division of the Office of Superintendent of Insurance is a statewide investigative and prosecutorial office created by the Legislature in 1998 to combat the problem of insurance fraud. In 2018, the Legislature created the New Mexico Auto Theft Prevention Authority within the Division, with the goal of better statewide coordination in the fight against and the deterrence of auto theft across our State. The Division is committed to investigating and prosecuting criminal offenses arising from every facet of the insurance industry in New Mexico.
