The very name "Sisters of Mary" says that the Society is dedicated to Mary. She is her role model and inspiration in her daily dedication and service. Mary's sisters base their spirituality and draw on Mary's example of dedication and availability for God's plans. The Society of the Sisters of Mary was called to life by the needs of the poor and neglected patients in their homes. This is clearly expressed by the motto of the Society: "Here is the servant of the Lord"! A specific expression of the sister's connection with Mary is the wearing of the miraculous medal. Thus, Mary's sisters become Mary's apostles, spreaders of the miraculous medal, through which she distributes her graces to all those who wear it, and the sisters themselves bear witness to Mary's care and busyness for people in need. "Mary's sisters believe that through the mediation of Mary they receive all graces - the image of the miraculous medal reminds them of this - that is why they ask her for mercy, both for themselves and for their wards, to be open to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit.
