Corso: 0-100 GPS Timer
Measure your car’s 0–100 km/h or 0–60 mph time. GPS results & leaderboards.
About Corso: 0-100 GPS Timer
Some numbers are claimed. This one is measured.
CORSO measures your car’s 0–100 km/h or 0–60 mph acceleration using your Android phone.
No external GPS box. No special hardware.
Mount your phone, come to a complete stop and drive. Corso records the run, calculates the time and tells you how certain that measurement actually is.
Every result comes with two numbers:
Your time.
And its margin.
Because a time without a margin is only a claim.
THE MEASUREMENT
Corso combines GPS and the sensors inside your phone to measure acceleration.
Every completed run is sent to the server to be scored independently rather than calculated only on the handset. The result is checked for measurement quality, road conditions, phone movement, satellite data and other factors that can affect accuracy.
If the measurement is good enough, you get a verified result.
If it is not, Corso tells you why.
BLUE. PURPLE. GOLD.
Runs are graded by how accurately they were measured, not by how fast the car was.
BLUE — measured, but with a larger uncertainty.
PURPLE — a strong measurement.
GOLD — measured to within five hundredths of a second.
Gold requires good conditions: a stationary start, a suitable road, a phone that stays fixed in its mount and a clear view of the sky.
Not every attempt reaches Gold.
That is deliberate.
THE LEADERBOARDS
Set a time and see how your car compares.
Filter the leaderboard by make and model and compare like with like:
Golf against Golf.
Stelvio against Stelvio.
M3 against M3.
With the car held roughly constant, the differences become much more interesting: driver, tyres, tune, conditions and setup.
Corso also includes power-to-weight classes, separate combustion and electric rankings, and private groups that can be joined using an invite code.
Leaderboards rank runs using their worst-case result rather than the most optimistic reading.
Measuring badly should never make you faster.
WHAT CORSO REFUSES
Corso does not force every attempt into a result.
A rolling start.
Too much gradient.
A phone moving inside its mount.
Insufficient satellite data.
Conditions that make the measurement unreliable.
When a run cannot be trusted, Corso rejects it and explains the reason.
That is part of the measurement.
An instrument that always gives you the answer you want is not much of an instrument.
ROAD CONDITIONS
Before a run, the car needs to remain stationary for a few seconds.
This gives Corso the reference point it needs to establish sensor zero before the measurement begins.
Corso can also estimate the effect of road gradient and correct a run towards level-ground performance. Any uncertainty introduced by that correction is reflected in the result margin.
If the slope contributed too much to the run, the attempt is rejected.
CALIBRATION
When Corso encounters an unfamiliar car, early runs may temporarily appear as NOT COUNTED while the system builds the calibration it needs.
Those runs can be scored again afterwards.
No second attempt is required simply because the calibration was still being established.
PRIVACY BY DESIGN
Corso does not need to know where you drove.
Run locations are rounded to roughly 20 km before leaving your phone. A result belongs to a region, never to a specific road.
Creating an account requires only a username.
No email address.
No photographs.
No advertising.
No advertising identifiers.
Corso does not record your movement when it is not actively measuring, and Android displays a notification for the entire time a measurement is running.
HOW FAST IS YOUR CAR, REALLY?
There is only one useful way to find out.
Measure it.
Set the record for your car. Then defend it.
