Mehndi originated in India around the 12th century in the regions of Rajasthan, Punjab and Gujarat and was practiced by women of lower social classes for events such as weddings, due to the lack of resources to acquire jewelry. Little by little the designs evolved and improved.
It is currently practiced in Hindu and Muslim society, in the days leading up to the girl's wedding.
To make these wonderful drawings on hands and feet or any other part of the body, henna is used.

Henna is a natural dye made from a mud-like paste, which has a fairly long-lasting effect on skin and hair.

The application of henna can be done with plastic bottle-type applicators or with plastic cones. What is easier for you

Before applying the henna, make sure to wash the area to be treated well with soap and water, in this way you will eliminate all traces of grease that can make it difficult to trace the drawing. Any mistakes should be quickly cleaned up with cotton swabs and water before the henna dries. In specialized stores there are drawing templates for the part of the body you want to tattoo. You can also make them at home with paper that is malleable.

To preserve the leftover paste, cover it with a mixture of lemon juice and sugar and cover it with plastic wrap.

If you have finished a design and it starts to crack, you should cover it with plastic wrap or apply oil or wax or Vaseline, but be very careful not to damage the drawings.
