Daily Memory is a memory training program with a diary. It is created on the basis of cognitive neuroscience.
1. Autobiographical memories are the memories of our lives. They contain episodic and semantic memories about self, experiences, events, people, objects, emotions, time, and places (cf. Conway, M.A. (2005). Memory and the self. Journal of Memory and Language, 53, 594-628.).
2. Retrieval of memory promotes long-term retention. (cf. Karpicke, J.D., & Blunt, J.R. (2011). Retrieval practice produces more learning than elaborative studying with concept mapping, Science, 331, 772-775.).
3. Feedback improves the accuracy of memory and retention (Butler, A.C., Karpicke, J.D., & Roediger III, H.L. (2008). Correcting a metacognitive error: Feedback increases retention of low confidence correct responses. Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory and Cognition, 34(4), 918-928.).
4. The retrieval of autobiographical memories is involved in the activity in the comprehensive areas of the brain including hippocampus, prefrontal cortex, amygdala and visual cortex (cf. Cabeza, R., & St. Jacques, P. (2000). Functional neuroimaging of autobiographical memory. TRENDS in Cognitive Sciences, 11(5), 219-227.).
5. Sleep enhances memory consolidation and involves brain plasticity (cf. Maquet, P. (2001). The role of sleep in learning and memory. Science, 294, 1048-1051).
6. There is a strong interaction between cognition and emotion in the brain (cf. Pessoa, L. (2008). On the relationship between emotion and cognition, Nature Reviews Neuroscience, 9 , 148-158.)
7. Remembering the past is deeply connected with imagining the future, problem solving, decision making, creative thinking, etc. (cf. Schacter, D.L., Addis, D.R., & Buckner, R.L. (2007). Remembering the past to imagine the future: the prospective brain. TRENDS in Cognitive Sciences, 8, 657-661.)
