About AI-DISC Apple

AI DISC Apple identifies pests and diseases in apple crops from a single photograph — in seconds, on your own phone, with no internet connection needed.

Developed by ICAR — Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute (ICAR-IASRI).


HOW IT WORKS

Photograph an affected leaf or fruit. An artificial intelligence model built into the app examines the image and names the most likely pest or disease, along with how confident it is. You then get management guidance written by ICAR specialists — cultural, biological and chemical control.

The whole process happens on your device. Your photographs are never uploaded.


WORKS WITHOUT INTERNET

The AI model travels inside the app. There is no server to reach, so a diagnosis takes the same fraction of a second in a remote orchard as it does in an office. Reference material and treatment advice are equally available offline.


WHAT IT RECOGNISES

14 apple pests and diseases, plus healthy fruit.

Diseases — Alternaria Leaf Blotch, Apple Mosaic Virus, Cankers, Powdery Mildew, Apple Scab on fruit, Apple Scab on leaves

Pests — European Red Mite, Green Aphid, San Jose Scale, Woolly Aphid, Blossom Thrips, Leaf Miner, Stem Borer

The reference library additionally documents Marssonina Leaf Blotch.


IN YOUR LANGUAGE

Available in 13 Indian languages — English, Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Assamese and Urdu. Every part of the app translates, including the agricultural guidance. English and Hindi are built in; other languages are downloaded once and then work offline.

Translation is powered by Bhashini, the Government of India's national language platform.

AN HONEST NOTE ON ACCURACY

This app gives a first opinion, not a final diagnosis. It knows apple crops only — photographs of other crops will still produce an answer, and that answer will be wrong. For anything serious, or where the app is unsure, consult your local agricultural extension officer or plant protection specialist.
