About AquaFlux
AquaFlux is a local numerical sketch of the ocean mixed-layer energy balance. Adjust solar intensity, atmospheric CO₂, mixed-layer depth, and vertical diffusivity, then watch heat-flux components update as colored arrows on a canvas.
The model follows a simple box relation: mixed-layer heat-content change equals net heat flux minus vertical transport. AquaFlux shows ocean heat uptake percentage and sea-surface temperature anomaly (SSTA) over time.
A dedicated CO₂-doubling comparison (280 vs 560 ppm) computes excess heat stored in the ocean versus a thin atmosphere proxy, illustrating how ocean uptake buffers surface warming. All calculations run on device. No account is required. Simulation settings stay local. There is no sharing or export of your parameters.
