About Word Smash

In early 2020, my mother-in-law suffered a stroke, which mostly affected her speech.
She can read and speak written words. She can hear and repeat spoken words.
Her problem is speaking the word for a real object. She knows what the word is, but frustratingly, a completely different word comes out! She knows immediately that it was wrong, but just can't say it.
There are probably all sorts of technical terms for this condition (aphasia / dysphasia), research into its cause and best practice for improving. However, access to speech therapy was limited during early 2020, so this was my contribution to get her practising, relieving some pressure off us as a family too.
The app shows a picture and asks the user to say what it is. It then shows the word, and speaks it out loud. This repeats for lots of different nouns.

Please accept this app for what it is: a simple word tool that has helped my family during difficult times. In no way am I claiming this is best practice, or a professionally accepted methodology!

If it sounds like it might help your own situation, please feel free to use it.
