Jimin was born in Geumsa-dong, Geumjeong District, Busan, South Korea on October 13, 1995. He is the first of two children.
In middle school, Jimin was a smart student and was always the class president.
In high school, Jimin entered Busan Arts High School, majoring in modern dance and contemporary ballet. Jimin became the "best student" because of his dancing talent and good academic grades. Jimin's teacher suggested he take a K-pop audition, he complied, until he was accepted.
Jimin moved from Busan to Seoul and attended Korean Arts High School. There he met Kim Tae-hyung alias V, who later became a group friend in BTS.
