Tele-veterinary consultation service for rural livestock farmers of Bangladesh.
Shurokkha, one of mPower’s social enterprises, provides ICT-based consultation service for livestock health targeted for smallholder farmers. Using the Shurokkha app, para-vets can conduct household visits and register cattle farmers and their cattle farmers into our database. Once cattle is registered, para-vets can begin to conduct routine visits to capture the changes in health, production, and rearing management of each cattle and can take photographs to document the overall changing health condition of the cattle served. Para-vets can also be summoned on-demand by the farmer to conduct emergency visits when cattle falls ill. In these cases, the para-vets enter details of cattle symptoms and take pictures relevant areas which are sent via the internet (usually mobile network) to professional veterinarians located in cities. These veterinarians can then view the cattle information to conduct a remote diagnosis and prescribes treatment, referral advice or medication shortly to the para-vet. The para-vet receives this communication in their smartphone app as notification or alternatively through phone calls directly from the veterinarian and advice's the farmer accordingly
