About Planetica: Planetary Visibilit

Planetica is the perfect app to see at a glance which planets will be visible in the sky in respect to a specific time and location.

Brand new predictions e.g. for the Great Red Spot and Olympus Mons:

This is the first Android app predicting whether Jupiter's Great Red Spot and surface details on Mars like Syrtis Mayor (including Hellas Basin) and Olympus Mons will be facing towards earth when the planet is observable! Exact transit times are displayed if a surface feature will be observable. Planetica features an easy configuration to adjust the Red Spot's drift parameters as needed.

Planet information:
- Rise and set time
- Maximal heigth over the horizon
- Planet phase / illumination (especially relevant for Mercury and Venus)
- Cardinal direction of planet rise
- Moon light intersection times (especially relevant for Uranus and Neptune)
- Visualized distances to earth and sun
- Surface feature transit time (for Jupiter and Mars)
- A star map to assist you in finding a planet in the night sky
- Positions of the Jovian moons

Configure observation duration and minimal height:

With Planetica you are able to decide on your own whether a planet is determined to be visible or not. Configure the time you want to spend at observing a planet and a planet's minimal height over the horizon. Only the planets fitting your configuration will be displayed in the app.

General information:

- Sun set and rise
- Moon phase / illumination
- Cloud coverage prediction up to 5 days ahead

Polar alignment:

You want to photograph dark planets over longer time periods? With the included alignment assistance tool you are able to align your German equatorial mount according to the current position of Polaris (northern hemisphere) or Polaris Australis (southern hemisphere). Yes, Planetica even supports polar alignment on the southern hemisphere!

Plan nights anywhere:

You gain information about observation opportunities for any place by entering latitude, longitude and by selecting the appropriate timezone.

Offline usability:

You are able to use Planetica without an active internet connection.
