Dua Qunoot (دعاء القنوت) is a special supplication that a Muslim recites in the prayer, usually during the Witr prayer (in the last rak‘ah, before or after ruku‘ depending on the madhhab).

🔹 Meaning of Qunoot:
The word "Qunoot" in Arabic means humility, obedience, and devotion in worship.

🔹 When it is recited:

Most commonly in Witr prayer after Isha.

Sometimes in times of calamity (Qunoot al-Nazilah), the imam may recite it in other prayers to ask Allah’s help and protection for the Muslims.

🔹 The Dua itself:
There are authentic versions narrated from the Prophet ﷺ. A famous one reported by Hasan ibn Ali (رضي الله عنهما) goes as follows (in Arabic with meaning):

اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي فِيمَنْ هَدَيْتَ، وَعَافِنِي فِيمَنْ عَافَيْتَ، وَتَوَلَّنِي فِيمَنْ تَوَلَّيْتَ، وَبَارِكْ لِي فِيمَا أَعْطَيْتَ، وَقِنِي شَرَّ مَا قَضَيْتَ، فَإِنَّكَ تَقْضِي وَلَا يُقْضَى عَلَيْكَ، إِنَّهُ لَا يَذِلُّ مَنْ وَالَيْتَ، وَلَا يَعِزُّ مَنْ عَادَيْتَ، تَبَارَكْتَ رَبَّنَا وَتَعَالَيْتَ

Translation:
“O Allah, guide me among those You have guided, grant me wellbeing among those You have granted wellbeing, take me into Your charge among those You have taken into Your charge, bless me in what You have given, protect me from the evil You have decreed. Surely, You decree and none can pass decree upon You. Surely, he is not humiliated whom You befriend, and he is not honored who is Your enemy. Blessed are You, our Lord, and Exalted.”
