Flass is the messaging app your university actually runs — not a consumer group chat you hope everyone joins, and not another tool bolted onto the VLE.

Campus conversation is usually scattered: announcements by email, coursework questions in a group chat nobody can moderate, office hours booked on a spreadsheet, society life somewhere the institution cannot see at all. Messages are end-to-end encrypted with AES-256-GCM under per-room keys, unwrapped only on a signed-in device
Search runs over encrypted keyword tokens, so students can find an old message without that message being readable in storage
Notification previews are encrypted in transit too — a private message stays private on the way to the lock screen
Sign in with your university email, or through Microsoft Entra ID or Google, so access follows the same joiner and leaver process as every other institutional system
