Peace Bytes is supported the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
Peace Bytes is a unique initiative that will engage young people aged 14 – 25 who are alienated in their community and on the fringes of society. Our Unique ICT creative approach will be used alongside standard and creative youth work methodologies with a focus on personal development, good relations, peer leadership and citizenship.
All participants will be fully supported by a team of professional youth workers whose goal is to address any perceived barriers to a positive physical and mental wellbeing.
We aim to raise the capacity of not only young people, but the community as a whole & leave a legacy of future leaders who will promote peace and reconciliation.
Peace Bytes will engage and recruit 960 marginalised young people (55% Protestant/35% Catholic/10% Other); 400 from Antrim/Newtownabbey Borough and 400 from Derry/Londonderry and East Inishowen), over 4 years, to participate voluntarily in one of 64 intensive 30-week experiential youth development programmes (consisting of a minimum of 6 sessions per week)
16 of these participants will form a Youth Steering Group.
