Muar or 💐Bandar Maharani, is a historical town and the capital of Muar District, Johor, Malaysia. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Malaysia to be visited and explored for its food, coffee and historical prewar buildings. It was recently declared as the royal town of Johor by 🏅Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar and is the fourth largest city (after Johor Bahru, Batu Pahat and Kluang) in Johor. It is the main and biggest town of the bigger entity region or area of the same name, Muar which is sub-divided into the Muar district and the new 🏯Tangkak district, which was upgraded into a full-fledged district from the Tangkak sub-district earlier. Muar district as the only district covering the whole area formerly borders Malacca in the northern part. Upon the upgrading of Tangkak (formerly Ledang) district, the Muar district now covers only the area south of Sungai Muar, whilst the northern area beyond the river is in within Tangkak district.

🍃Muar's signature meals include mee bandung, rojak petis, satay Muar, and asam pedas, which are all great Malay dishes. Not to mention delectable Javanese dishes like as soto, mee rebus, lontong, and nasi ambeng. Locals are known for eating goreng pisang (fried banana) and goreng tempe (fried fermented soya bean cake) with thick soy sauce and fiery chile. Pau Maharani is also a favourite.
🍇Nasi Beriani Gam, the local variation, is also good. Ikan bakar is grilled 🐡fish and sea foods like as 🦐prawns, 🦑squid, 🦀crab, mussels, and clams that are freshly caught, delicious, and inexpensive. It is best served with a banana leaf wrapped around it. Every evening, 🥣Nasi Lemak is served in Medan Ikan Bakar Sabak Awor, Jalan Bakariah, and Medan🐠 Ikan Bakar Parit Karang. Mee Siput is a wonderful native food served with sambal, a spicy chilli paste. Only can be available in Muar. Another great local dish is Johor Laksa. Here are some suggestions: 🍵Eat Satay and Mee Rebus for breakfast, mee bandung for lunch, rojak petis in the afternoon, and asam pedas at Parit Jawa for supper, as the natives do.
🍋Muar is also known for a variety of Chinese dishes such as Muar Otak-otak (乌达), Teochew Or-Luak/Or-Chien(Fried Oyster Omelette), Hainanese Steamed Chicken Rice Ball, Muar Char Kueh Teow (fried rice noodle with clam), Hokkien Hae-Mee (Fried Prawn Mee), 🍅Cantonese Wonton Mee, Muar Char-Siew (Fish Ball Noodle), Teochew Lo-Ak-Perng(Braised Duck Rice), Teochew Mee Poh(Fish Ball Noodle), Teochew Her-Moi(Fish Soup Porridge), Teochew Kueh Chap(Big pieces cut flat rice noodle in soup with braised pork, pig offal, egg and bean curd/tofu),🌽 Teochew Chwee Kueh (a delicious rice cake with salted raddish), Char Chai Tow Kueh(fried raddish cake), Cantonese Chok (Congee), Simpang Jeram's Loy Her Bee Hoon (haruan/snake head fish soup with vermicelli), 🍖Bak Kut Teh (herbal pork ribs soup with yam rice), 🍜Teochew Ter Chap Cheng Therng(Pig Organ Soup), Curry Laksa, Hakka Yong Tao Foo, Chee Cheong Fun, Mi/Bang Chien Kueh (Kueh Apam Balik Cina) etc are must-try local Chinese delicacies for visitors. Foods centres can be found at🚍 Muar Bus Station (Malay), Tanjung Emas (Mixed), Jalan Bentayan's Bentayan Hawker Centre (Chinese) and Jalan Haji Abu(Chinese) Hawkers Centre also known as 🥠"T'am Cjia Kueh" (贪呷街), literally "the glutton voracious eating street" by the Chinese befitting its reputation as the food haven of the town. There are also a few Chinese restaurants serving nice Pau and Dimsum (Chinese bun and dumpling) for breakfast.
