The word 'Aatmabodh' itself spurs motivation in our minds. Self-education is the first step in changing society. Aatmabodh organized by Social Welfare and Development Committee (SW&D), VIT Pune gave a chance to senior citizens and housewives for bridging the technological gap in generations. 'Aatmabodh' is a digital literacy program that has been carried out since 2008. Basic usage of computers, smartphones, government apps, MS Office, and a range of such technological education was fostered in these curious minds. With more and more efforts from students in organizing the event and the enthusiastic participants, this event has come a long way since then. The 28th rendition witnessed the footfall of around 450 participants and the same number of volunteers building the notion of ‘Each One Teach One’. Aatmabodh has influenced thousands of participants thus spreading digital literacy in our very own society.
This year, with the pandemic lockdown going on, everyone has faced many difficulties and missed opportunities, but we are determined to stop this from getting in the way of our work. By conducting this year’s Aatmabodh through online platforms, not only will we able to improve our reach to help more people, but we will also be allowing people from all over India to volunteer. That means anyone with a will to help out others and an internet connection can contribute towards this activity. We have been strongly guided by Prof. Dr Rajesh Dhake (Dean student activities) and Prof.Gajanan Gambhire (NSS program officer) and our own VIT alumnus. We are very thankful for their contribution.
