About تماثيل عين غزال

Archaeologists discovered the first underground cache of these statues in 1983 and a second group of sculptures in 1985 at Ain Ghazal, a Neolithic site in Jordan. The Ain Ghazal statues depict men, women, and children with complex human features such as almond-shaped eyes, prominent noses, legs, and fingers. Realistic feet and nails, the statues have gained great appeal, which can be viewed today in many museums around the world including the Jordan Museum, the Jordan Archaeological Museum, the British Museum and the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

The statues of Ain Ghazal are considered among the important monuments in the Arab region. They date back to ancient times, dating back about 8 thousand years. They were discovered in 1983 at the site of Ain Ghazal in Jordan. They represent one of the most important archaeological discoveries there, and date back to the period between the years 7250 and 6500 BC, and represent abstract human figures made of clay. They are distinguished by their large size and oval and internal bodies, and reflect the ingenuity of the civilization that created them.

The number of Ain Ghazal statues reached 36, and it showed the extent to which they were affected by the vibrations and heavy weights that passed through the site of their discovery during the process of building a road, which led to the core of the statues being shattered and their gypsum shell cracking. The Ain Ghazal statues underwent restoration in Britain, and were displayed for 3 decades in the museum. The National Museum in Jabal al-Qalaa, and part of it was transferred for display at the Jordan Museum in Ras al-Ain.

Plastic artists believe that these statues are considered the beginning of the launch of plastic art based on human imagination and his aesthetic and spiritual visions of the surrounding world, and a center for the transfer of civilization to the world.

-The era in which Ain Ghazal flourished was the Neolithic, that is, the pre-pottery, which extends from approximately 8500 to 5500 BC. During this period, agriculture and pastoralism developed greatly, which led to an increase in the population and its settlement in agricultural sites.
