About Fayyaa Ko

Fayyaa Ko (ጤንነቴ, 'My Health') is a Tele Health System(THS) application for accessing a wide range of healthcare services from the comfort of a smartphone device. It is built on the top of Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) infrastructure with industry-standard personal data security that Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) can offer.

In its current configuration, the App is used as a healthcare tool for reporting COVID-19 symptoms remotely, so as to enable patients access integrated healthcare support such as telephone triage, home visits or hospital admission following a remote assessment. That way, most visits to health centres would be avoided thereby minimising the spread of COVID-19 virus.

Fayyaa Ko is designed to allow multiple users on a single smartphone. This is intended to alleviate the limited penetration of smartphones in developing countries, currently below 20% in countries like Ethiopia. For instance, family members and friends can use this App with their personal profile totally isolated and personal data processed on secure Cloud Servers. At device level, the App simply acts as a mobile display client for a THS built around Secure Cloud Servers. Registered individuals are identified by a unique and anonymised registration number only known to Cloud Servers.

Fayyaa Ko is open to adapting any written language. Initial release includes support for languages of: Afan Oromo, Amharic and English. Other languages of Sidama, Somali, Tigrinya and more are planned for inclusion. If you wish to act as a translator and speed up this process, contact the Publisher to obtain a Multilingual Toolkit package required for translation.
