About this game

Logic: code breaking is an educational puzzle based on a classic two-player code breaking puzzle board game popularized in the 70s.

It is also known as Bulls and Cows, and Numerello. Many variants exist such as Royale, Grand, Word, Mini, Super, Ultimate, Deluxe, Advanced and Number with varying degree of complexity. This app, with its flexible settings, will let you adapt the difficulty to many of these variants.

One player mode
Two player modes
Adjustable difficulty
Adjustable appearance
Points and ranking system
Configurable code labels
Game statistics
Accessibility (TalkBack) for visually impaired

Description
A code is automatically generated in one player mode and you have to use a logical approach to break the code with the least number of guesses to become the master code breaker. For each guess you submit a response will tell you how many colors are both correct in color and position, or in color but not position.

You can adjust the difficulty of the game in Settings by changing the number of rows, columns and colors to find a suitable level for novices and experts alike.

You can challenge a friend or family member in one of the Logic: code breaking multiplayer game modes by either playing on the same device or Play by mail for remote play.

You can earn points and gain rank as you progress and win games in single player mode.

You can fully customize the colors of all the pegs to assist users suffering from color blindness or simply because you would like a different look and feel.

You can configure code labels of numbers and letters, shown with the colors to assist users suffering from color blindness and also to teach the younger audience about numbers and letters while playing this educational puzzle game.

You can choose between light and dark mode and various color themes to get the look and feel you prefer.

You can get hints when you feel a game is too challenging and still break the code before you run out of guesses.

You can see statistics for each game you finish so you can compete against yourself, or compare with friends, and improve your Logic: code breaking skills over time.

A Logic: code breaking game will on average take two to five minutes to complete depending of the difficulty setting.

This is very thoughtfully programmed. I particularly appreciate the flexibility with customizing the appearance. Too many games in this genera don't take into consideration that about 8% of us have some color deficiency which makes some colors miserable to differentiate. This one, on the other hand, was relatively easy to see right away, and when you're using numbers and colors, then there's no confusion at all. I would love to see a "mean" turn time along with the average time stats.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review John, and for your suggestion as well. We'll look into adding the mean turn time to the stats. Thanks again.

Very nice. Once you turn on haptics, drag (colors visible all the time), and numbering it's smooth and should be on by default. Update: Add ability to copy and "pull" colors from the tap (previously played) row, to speed populating the next row. Also tapping on the colors in the bottom tray to fill the row from left to right quickly. Update: Thanks for the "lock" tip. Last thing would be tapping in a peg hole in the active row should toggle between colors sequentially. Updating to 5 stars!

Thanks Joel. Good point. We've considered it as well. Perhaps we'll set them as default with the next update. Edit: you can lock a colour in a column of an active row by long pressing it. Edit(2): There is now a new update available where you can toggle the option Sequential positioning on in Settings, for faster play. Let us know what you think.

What a fantastic app. Clean, well-thought-out design that matches the original gameplay with lots of options for number of colors, columns, etc to change the difficulty. No coins, collectibles, ads, microtransactions, or any of the other annoyances that plague modern phone games. And dark mode! If it were possible to make a more perfect version of the classic Mastermind game, I don't know how. And it's free?!?
