About this app

Ting is a new generation of smart technology and service, thoroughly proven to help you protect your family and home from electrical fires. Ting is centered around an intelligent, plug-in DIY sensor and is squarely focused on fire prevention. Ting monitors the electricity in your home to detect tiny, hidden micro-arcs that are often precursors to electrical fires. Ting also monitors for hazardous conditions stemming from poor quality power from the local electric utility service provider, which can damage your sensitive electronic devices, stress your electrical system, and result in safety hazards, including fires.

The Ting Sensor is required to install the sensor and activate your Ting service (however, after installing, the app never communicates directly with your sensor). After installation, the app keeps you in the know 24x7.

If an electrical fire hazard is detected, the Ting Fire Safety team will contact you and guide you through identifying and mitigating the hazard. Some Ting-identified hazards stem from failing or faulty devices or appliances that simply need to be removed from service / replaced. Others stem from dangerous power supplied to the home by the local electric utility service provider. Still, other hazards develop in wiring, connections, or other electrical infrastructure throughout the house; when this type of hazard is suspected, the Ting Fire Safety Team – with your approval – coordinates a licensed electrician to visit your home to isolate and fix the hazard. Ting includes a lifetime credit of up to $1,000 to cover labor costs of such a repair - see Ting's Service Terms for details.

Worked fine for a few days, then won't reconnect to the wifi. You waste your time emailing them and then waiting 2 days for a response to tell you to the predictable garbage responses. Wifi hasn't changed, password hasn't changed, it had a great signal to start with, and miraculously appeared to loose it. You can set another device next to it and it has perfect signal. Appears to be a defective product. Currently it has a solid blue light like it should be working, but it's not. Garbage product

Received this free from State Farm. Great idea & was so excited. However, this thing crashes more then anything I have ever seen. It spends more time offline then it does online. It is 4 feet from my router, doesn't matter. Don't lose power but the Ting still drops. I get constant notifications & emails saying it is offline. I have rebooted, turned off, turned on, blah blah blah more than 40 times. Still nothing. Now today it just permanently turned off. No lights, no flashing, nothing, it died

Oh no! We sincerely apologize for the troubles you've had with the sensor; that does not sound right. If the LED is no longer working and there is power to the outlet, it sounds like we need to get you a replacement sensor. If you've not done so yet, please reach out to our Customer care team at help@whiskerlabs.com. Thank you!

I received the Ting through State Farm free of charge. I feel safe with Ting monitoring my house for fire hazards. I haven't had any interference since I installed it. The only notifications I have received are when the power goes out or there is interference with the internet. Whenever the power is restored, the Ting starts monitoring again. I don't have to do anything. Love it.
