Message Classic (alternate name as Messaging Classic) is the stock messaging (SMS & MMS) app ported from the Android native system!
Most of the phone manufacturers, for example, Samsung, LG, Sony and HTC, build their own messaging apps with different user experience, Message Classic brings you the native taste with Google design.
In Nexus 5, Google Hangouts is the default messaging app, while the original messaging app is gone. Message Classic gives you a chance to bring it back.
Remember to disable your other third party SMS apps' notifications or you may get duplicated notifications for each message.

I have used this app forever and was very happy doing so. Recently there was this supposed upgrade that other people have mentioned. Now I am having all the problems they describe but I am also having ads and links pop up every time I try to do anything. I have to back out of the app, if it will let me, or otherwise exit everything, to get to the next message, etc. Also, it is not showing all the contact pictures, and my messages are getting cut off on the left side of the screen.

I I've been using and enjoying Messaging Classic for years. I enjoy the classic style over the new ones that focus on emojies and pictures. However, something else installed yesterday called MessageCls. I tried to reinstall Messaging Classic and got the same. It has a different appearance with a lot of green, has a constant notification that cannot be cleared, and lot of other differences. This is not the classic messaging experience I want.

The message classics that I was using had a more professional look than this cartoon effect that's going on now, there are some upgrades that I like, such as being able to search through photos that either have been sent or received. I wish you could retain the professional look of the text screen. The contact was on the left and the user on the right and messages corresponding in that order.
