About this game

A casual arcade experience with roguelike RPG mechanics. Ad-free.

In The Gauntlet, take your party of 3 characters into turn-based battles against floor after floor of monsters in a dungeon. These dungeons contain dragons, evil wizards, powerful knights and mages, and more. As you progress through floors, your characters level up and learn new abilities and magic spells.

Graphically, The Gauntlet paints a super stylish lo-fi pallette over classic pixel art sprites.

With roguelike mechanics, your party members experience points will not persist when falling in the Gauntlet. However, their abilities and other attributes will remain.

The Gauntlet aims to offer an enjoyable Arcade RPG experience to all players, offering an easier mode of 50 floors, suitable for casual or occasional players. Hardcore RPG gamers can battle through up to 150 floors in one session.

The Gauntlet is a mini-roguelike and can be enjoyed without ads. I repeat, there are no ads.

Looking good so far but we really need the ability to decide which enemy we are attacking. EDIT: figured it out, you have to DOUBLE TAP on the enemies. Maybe make it a single tap or explain this somewhere in the beginning. Also it would be nice to have some semblance of choice of our "path" each floor with RNG rooms we can choose between to reach the boss at the end, kinda like Buriedbornes. I wanted a simple team roguelike but this is a little TOO simplistic still. But off to a good start!

it has some promise, but it becomes very unstable and laggy before you could finish 50 floors. The only game play issues I had were that the warrior and knight share a lot of abilities; they have little identity. Tool tips are unhelpful: "light damage" isn't meaningful. And other than buying new classes there's no purpose to souls? No sort of shop or upgrades with them. It also feels like there's an equipment system that hasn't been implemented yet. I look forward to updates.

I'm afraid that whatever has changed has made the game pointless. Without access to poison, several enemies cannot be damaged at all. No MP, no hope. Even the thief with all abilities gained, cannot beat several enemies without having poison. I'm going to stop playing until some kind of fix for this is introduced. I was having a lot of fun, even writing down immunity and weakness for the enemies. Winning or losing is cool. Being forced to just quit a game in progress sucks.
