I probably wouldn't use this app to learn Hiragana, but for practice? It's excellent. When you are practicing: stare at the kana, practice saying it out loud, then move your thumb and press the answer. Or, try and get as fast at picking the answer accurately as you can. Definitely make sure you practice speaking. It will help solidify your memory, how you pronounce it, and also how to read it in your head. Don't rely only picking from the four given answers, and it's a good review tool!

Highly recommended! It helped me a lot. The problems I found was that there was no option to get random characters that doesn't follow the sequence of set of 5. I mean, if I wanted to practise row 2 and 4 then I should be getting random characters from those two rows from the start, instead of first getting characters from row 2 and then 4. And at least there should have been a feature that teaches us about the correct sequence of hiragana strokes if not an option to practice them on writing pad

Katakana Pro and Hiragana Pro are brilliant apps. I was pretty rusty but these brought me well up to speed. I feel like they'd be great for absolute beginners as well with the visual and verbal aspects as well as the repetition. Well worth the $1 upgrade I might add. My only wish is that there was a drawing option in addition to the multiple choice and keyboard, but maybe some day 😁
