About this app

The Dhammapada - The Buddha's Path of Wisdom
translated from the Pali by Acharya Buddharakkhita

The Dhammapada is the best known and most widely esteemed text in the Pali Tipitaka, the sacred scriptures of Theravada Buddhism. The work is included in the Khuddaka Nikaya ("Minor Collection") of the Sutta Pitaka, but its popularity has raised it far above the single niche it occupies in the scriptures to the ranks of a world religious classic. Composed in the ancient Pali language, this slim anthology of verses constitutes a perfect compendium of the Buddha's teaching, comprising between its covers all the essential principles elaborated at length in the forty-odd volumes of the Pali canon.

Settings -> continual speech (tick the box). Now press the speech šŸ’¬ bubble at the top of the screen when you want to hear it read out to you. Great app, no ads, low space, brilliant.

I've recently gotten into looking into buddhism and buddhist thought and have really enjoyed this app. It brings both the actual version and the English version together. The interface is simple and easy to use and if a saying sticks out to you you have the ability to favorite it. Even if you are not a practitioner, this is a wonderful introduction to the sayings of the Buddha. Thank you for creating this app!

Dharma PĆ¢Č›ha: I have certainly benefitted by this uncluttered, simple app & its profound wisdom, separating good from evil in a very concise & indisputable way. However I find Prakrit/ Pali obscure & difficult to read šŸ“š - I would love to see this in uncorrupted, simple Sanskrit (but without unnecessary grammatical complication). For example: aÅŸČ›a, eight; (octem, Lat.) not attha, which just makes us think, flour.
