INTERACTIVE LESSONS

In Notysing you learn to sing from written music in interactive lessons, and along the way you will pick up knowledge in note names, scales, keys, rhythm, music theory and much more. As with language, you learn music best by imitating, testing and reflecting, by combining theory and practice.

It might sound like magic, but with Notysing, anyone that can sing a note can learn to sing from music notation! “Suddenly sheet music transforms into music, and you can hear what’s written”. It is much like reading and writing, and by doing the exercises you develop your musicality – singing, rhythm and intonation.

DEVELOPED BY EDUCATORS AND RESEARCHERS

Notysing is developed by music teachers and researchers in an ongoing research project involving The Royal College of Music in Stockholm and Doremir Music Research. The project examines how Doremir’s groundbreaking technology of music interpretation can be used for learning musical literacy.

The app has been tested in music education of junior high and high school, but can of course be used by anyone who can read, regardless of age or music knowledge. Music students, choir singers and band members who wants to improve their music learning can benefit from Notysing!

PEDAGOGICAL MODEL

The pedagogical model, created together with the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, starts with note names ("C D E"), and proceeds to use scale degree numbers ("1 2 3"). This was worked out to be the easiest way to understand scales without having to learn specific new vocabulary, and instead focus on the singing. The app then teaches key signatures and rhythm, enabling the user to sing real songs from notation!

Upcoming lessons will move on to teach solfège ("Do Re Mi"), but with scale degree numbers being very intuitive, the app can already be used in parallel to solfège based learning.

TOOLS FOR TEACHERS

Notysing performs best as a complement to teacher-led music education. With Notysing, your students can meet the goals of the curriculum regarding music literacy, music notation and the understanding of how music can be represented and organized. Each student has their own development path so you can give relevant feedback and get a basis for grading.

Music teachers, choir and band leaders can use Notysing with your students and track their progress through the Notysing Dashboard.

It's pretty good. I noticed one error, as it asked for a minor scale with no flats and sharps and the "correct" answer was C, which is wrong, it should be a. Also, it would be nice if there was a way to skip out of an exercise if you get frustrated with making it perfect, and just want to move on.

Hi! Thank you for reporting this! It was a typo in the translations that caused it. It will be fixed in the upcoming version of the app! Thank you also for your additional feedback, it is very helpful to our development. You can tap the X in the top right to exit the lesson, and start another, but not skip individual exercises. / Notysing Team

I was testing this for my granddaughter. I've been a musician for 40 years. It just keeps"evaluating" and having me do it again and again.
