About this app

Hey artists!

Tired of scouring the internet for reference material? Does the NSA think you’re a weirdo for looking up all those skeleton pictures? Got no-body to pose for you? Its going tibia ok, the Skelly app is just what you need! With the Skelly app you can literally pull the inspiration you need right out of your pocket anywhere, anytime!

Skelly is a fully poseable, anatomically correct reference skeleton for artists. A simplified version of the skeleton is also included, named “Robo-Skelly”. These figures were created to make the study of anatomy easier and more enjoyable for students and professionals without leaving your wallets bone dry. They can also be used to inspire poses for drawing, painting, sculpting, illustration, animation, comics, manga, storyboarding, twerking, and to fully understand the anatomy of the human skeleton. No need for super gluteus, Skelly comes pre-assembled and ready to pose as soon as you launch the app!

Learning the structure of the human body is the skeleton key to drawing the figure in an anatomically correct manner without having to clear your browser history to avoid awkward conversations with your loved ones. Whether you want to make works like Michelangelo or Miyazaki, Skelly will help you focus on your art and let you personalize his poses, rather than searching for reference material and hiring models. Learn to draw the skeleton from any angle without the inconvenient and morally questionable need to go grave robbing.

The user interface is very good, the 3D ball gadgets used to manipulate a bones' leaning, tilting and facing are easy to grasp. Robo Skelly is also very nice to have as a simplification for quick sketching. It it missing a few features though, mainly it's advertised as "fully poseable" but it does not allow opening the lower jaw or bending fingers and toes. Other features I wish it had would be: -cast shadows and reflected light (as an on/off toggle option) -additional light sources (also as optional toggles) -ability to place arbitrarily sizable and rotatable boxes into the scene along with Skelly (boxes should not cast shadows themselves but only receive cast shadows from Skelly) -more camera control (only allows rotation around two axes at the moment, it's possible to fake rotation around a third one only by posing Skellys pelvis bone instead but that would not be enough as soon as there are additional boxes in the scene) -option to save current view as an image file (can only do that with phones' builtin screenshot feature at the moment)

The developer could have set up the range of motion for each joint. For example, I wanted to observe how scapula pull backward, but when I was trying to move the scapula, it ran through the torso, which would never happen in real life. In fact, all the joints in this app can rotate 360°, but none of the joints in human body is like that. If you don't have solid anatomy knowledge, this app could be a bit misleading.

I don't usually review apps. But I got this to help reference bone under a pose I was doing for a character who would have them showing and needed specific angles and had it posed within a minute or two of playing around. I didn't expect that it also had a LIGHTING option and a setting to toggle between skeleton and mannequin. I would rate this app higher if I could. My only hope is for poseable fingers because that's the only downside. Great job Proko!
