La Voz de Melo

On June 27, 1942, the day Melo celebrated his 157th birthday, CW 53 LA VOZ DE MELO began broadcasting. At first it broadcast at 1580 kilocycles with a power of 250 watts and since its inauguration it became a source of attraction for the public throughout the region. Its range was very good despite the small authorized power due to the cleanliness of the ether, which in those days hardly detected radio signals.
