Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani (773 - 852 AH = 1372 - 1449 AD)

Ahmad bin Ali bin Muhammad al-Kinani al-Asqalani, Abu al-Fadl, Shihab al-Din, Ibn Hajar

• From the imams of science and history. His origin is from Ashkelon (in Palestine), and he was born and died in Cairo.
He was fond of literature and poetry, then turned to hadeeth, and traveled to Yemen, the Hijaz, and other places to listen to the sheikhs.
• He gained fame, so people sought him to learn from him, and he became the Hafiz of Islam in his era. Al-Sakhawi said: (His works were spread during his lifetime, and kings and elders wrote them down).
• He was eloquent in tongues, a narrator of poetry, well-versed in the days of the ancients and the news of the later ones.
• He was appointed to the judiciary of Egypt several times, then retired.
