The Statenvertaling Bijbel 1619 is the first official Dutch-language translation of the Bible, made directly from the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts.
The translation was completed in Leiden in 1637 and authorized by the State of Netherlands, hence the name of Statenvertaling or Staten Bijbel. This accurate and excellent translation in Dutch was the result of years of work by translators and auditors.
