DISINFECTION WITH UVC LEDS
Calculation of bactericidal efficiency
For disinfection, you can use short-wave UVC-diodes with a wavelength of 265 nm. The cost of a diode module, which would replace a mercury germicidal lamp, exceeds the cost of a lamp by three orders of magnitude, therefore, in practice, such solutions are not used for disinfection of large areas. But there are compact devices based on UV diodes for disinfection of small areas - tools, telephones, skin lesions, etc.

According to the current method of using ultraviolet radiation for air disinfection, approved by the Ministry of Health of Russia [R 3.5.1904-04], the maximum disinfection efficiency "three nines" or 99.9% is required for operating rooms, maternity hospitals, etc. For classrooms, public buildings, etc. enough "one nine", that is, 90% of the destroyed microorganisms. This means that depending on the category of the room, from one to three standard doses of 50 ... 150 J / m2 are sufficient.

It is easy to calculate that if you take a UVC LED of the UFIB 270 device model 3535 270 nM with an effective radiation power of 0.015 W / m2 and direct it to an irradiated surface area of 0.25 m2 (50x50 cm area), then on average, a bactericidal radiation flux of 0.060 W falls on the surface / 1m2. In an hour, that is, in 3600 seconds, this surface will have a dose of 0.060 W / m2 × 3600 s = 216 J / m2 Which even (!) Exceeds three standard doses of 50 J / m2 or "three nines" - 99.9% of bactericidal efficiency per dose equal to 50 J / m2, i.e. requirements for operating rooms. And since the calculated dose, before falling on the surface, passed through the volume of air, the air was disinfected with no less efficiency.

If the requirements for sterility are small and “one nine” is enough, for the example considered, a four times shorter irradiation time (4) is needed - about 15 minutes.

It can be concluded that UVC LEDs with a wavelength of 270 nM have a huge advantage over gas-discharge lamps due to the directional useful radiation and high bactericidal efficiency at short distances!
