About this app

The audio tour allows you to get to know one of the most interesting cities in central Poland - Łowicz. We are waiting not only for a walk through the history of the city, but also through the history of the whole country, which left their mark on the streets of Łowicz, as well as on the inhabitants of the city - Christians and Jews, whose coexistence was not the easiest one.

We greet the guide at the Market Square in front of the local Town Hall, in the vicinity of the Łowicz Museum and the Minor Basilica, where John Paul II, the Polish Pope, prayed. Here we will find out that great leaders, not only Polish ones, lived in Łowicz.

The route of our trip leads along picturesque tenement houses, but not only there. We will traverse the unique Avenue of the Stars, which cannot be found in any other city. It was created to honor folk artists. Traditional art is a kind of Łowicz brand.

While walking along the streets of Łowicz, we will learn extraordinary stories: probably the first voice strike in the world organized by ... nuns; the curse of the mother of a heroic partisan who died a shameful death; or a witch who had her power to lead to a construction disaster. I will only reveal that we will meet Zawisza Czarny and the legendary president of Warsaw on our way.

We will also go to the square, which belongs to the elite group of such places. We will cross the Triangular Market Square, one of the three preserved in Europe.

During the tour, you will also be able to find out which buttons were used to fasten, among others, Nobel laureate or prime minister of the Polish government. We will also go on a cruise to Gdańsk and back together with Łowicz merchants, and we will stand on the stage with… firefighters - volunteers.

We will also learn about the tragic history of nations, incl. Polish, Jewish and Russian, representatives of which were killed in nearby labor camps, used by the Nazis for slave labor on the Bzura River.

The walk will end with a meeting with the Holy Father John Paul II and the Masovian Wawel.
