About this app

Puget Sound in Washington State, USA, is a favorite boating location. This app provides tide and current predictions for the area. There are 83 tide stations and 59 current stations.

The predictions are immediate. There is no loading from the internet, all tide and current data are built into the app.

The chosen area is covered by the nautical charts #18441 and #18448. These are titled "Puget Sound Northern Part" and "Puget Sound Southern Part". The charts are joined to a single sheet so you can see the entire
area together. The selected station is marked on this chart. It is initially displayed in full, amd you can zoom and pan to see all detail. If you are within the area, and give the app GPS permission, your current location is displayed after a brief pan or zoom. Just tap the chart icon to show the chart.

A date entry screen allows you go see the prediction for any date. You can also swipe left and right to go forward and backward a day at a time. Just tap the calendar icon.

There is a favorites system, you can save up to eight locations for immediate access by a down swipe.

Full sun and moon information is available if desired, you can also just show the daylight range, or simply the tide table and graph by itself.

To select your desired station, use the location button. A region/station two step method is used.
A list of regions will be displayed. The region name always indicates either Tides or Currents and provides
an area name. Choose one of these, and a list of stations is displayed. ( The regions list is shown in one of the screenshots) So just choose a region, then a station, then the tide or current table for the present date will be calculated and displayed.

To verify the station location, you can push the chart icon. A display is produced showing the entire Puget Sound chart, which includes an inset station name, and line to the location, and a dot representing the station. The map is small but it shows the location within the entirety of Puget Sound. At that point, you can use pinch and pan gestures to zoom into the station and see the chart detail as you wish, there is sufficient chart resolution during zoom to show the full detail as on the original chart. Use the system back function to resume to the tide or current graph.

Various other commands are provided using the ... menu.

You can add the currently selected station to the favorites list.

You can show the station on a google map representation, in a variety of scales, the station location is centered on the display. This is the only app feature that can use the internet.

You can change the display coloring arrangement to bright, dark, or various colors.

You can adjust the sun and moon information displayed to one of three levels.

You can place a marked height on the display, this will allow you to see approximate times when the tide crosses the selected height.

You can make an overlay waveform, which shows the waveform from two locations for comparison.

An about gestures command reminds you of the three gestures available in the tide station repot.

Finally, a contact info command provides you my email address, you are welcome to contact me with questions or suggestions.

Too hard! Not intuitive. Never could really figure out how to work it. Part of that was probably my problem but decided to uninstall and find something out there that works better for me. Lost the tides app I liked when I changed phones. Might come back but hope not

Orville, I always help people immediately when they can't seem to get started with one of my apps. But they have to ask.

Thanks Mike. I've had Tide Now WA out for years but this app Tide Now Puget Sound is new. It adds current stations, and a chart feature. It has all tide and current stations that are available in the area. I'm working on the blue dot feature. So thanks for using it, and please email me if you have suggestions or questions. tide.now@gmail.com.
