About this app

and usage tips.

Tide Now AK is a offline tide calculator for Alaska. It displays a tide graph, daily tide table, tide status, and optionally sun and moon times.

App is self contained - does not use the internet to get its results, functions purely by calculations. It will work on a phone or a tablet in or out of range of communications.

Quick Simple and Clean - Operation is quick & the app is simple to use and understand. Gestures are supported for looking at the next and prior day tides. There are no ads and app cannot access phone features. The app is small, about 400 K Bytes.

User Options

Controls for the user are provided by three action bar icons and five items in the settings menu. The action bar controls are Set Location, Set Date, and Refresh. The settings controls are Add Station to Favorites, GMap Station (internet), Change Color Scheme, Sun and Moon Info, 12/24 hour time format choice, and About Gestures.

Designed for On The Spot Use-- The tidal status display is an immediate snapshot of the tide height and change, along with daily Highs and Lows, which can be refreshed at any time.

All Dates 1901 to 2100 are supported.

Next Day, Prior Day Swipes

Favorites - The selected station can be added to a set of eight favorites, which can be accessed quickly using a down-swipe.

Five color schemes, good for situations ranging from bright sun to night use.

Awesome app! I feel this is the most reliable tide chart for, at least SE, Alaska. It can be utilized while offline. The graph helps to generalize when certain locations can be approached. Sun and moon information is visual. Perfect for those who spend time traveling our waters. An important tool for fisherman and those who ⛵️. Great Job🖐

Thank you Danny for the kind review. I appreciate it. Have some great boating out there and take care. If you have any thoughts please email me tide.now@gmail.com Hey, also, try out the mark height command it will give you approximate height-crossing times like when you need a certain depth.

I think this app is fantastic. Clear and concise, no internet required, nothing to update, no ads. Just as described - taking publicly known tide knowledge and making it accessible to the public. Not even sure what version I have. I downloaded it a few years ago, use occasionally, and only thought about the App when looking for a Tide App for BC. Found other US regions by looking at other apps by author (but not BC). Add a "donate" button or "pro" version so people can support the developer.

Thank you Peter. I appreciate the review. Regarding a British Columbia app, I would write one if I could get the required tide data from the Canadian Hydrographic Service in Ottawa. I approached them in the past, and did extensive technical setup. But then they declined to provide the files for a nominal service fee, unfortunately.

Simple and to the point. Doesn't have very many features, but I don't need reception to know the tides. Been my primary tide table for the last 3 years and I fish tides over 90 days a year

Thanks for the review, few people understand the offline nature of this app. Alaska is so huge and so many waterways that it was a struggle to select the tide stations from all those available from NOAA. And the sun and moon predictions are more difficult in the extreme latitudes. All in all, it was a lot of work and I'm glad you find it useful.
