This project needs, now more than ever, the knowledge and patience that, throughout Galicia, put hundreds of people at our disposal to contribute to safeguarding a collective heritage unique in the world. No one knows the names of a territory better than the people who inhabit it and who preserved and transmitted with its use, after several generations, such a valuable cultural asset.

Therefore, the best way to preserve this toponymic heritage is to make the place names continue to live by spreading them through the Internet to everyone. On these premises the foundations of the new collaborative online application for the collection, georeferencing and dissemination of Galician microtoponymy called Galicia Nomeada are laid.
