Corazón, by the Italian writer Edmundo de Amicis, is a novel where sensitivity emerges between lines and steals tears from readers.
Written as a diary, Corazón narrates the school life of Enrique, a thirteen-year-old boy. In this narration the image of sacrifice, patriotism and working spirit is highlighted. In addition, letters are included from Enrique's parents that encourage their son to build a good heart and to be a better person every day.
The works of Edmundo de Amicis are characterized for having an ethical purpose and for guiding the reader always towards good. Heart is not an exception. The friendship in the family, the camaraderie between companions and the affection of the teachers is reflected in the whole novel. It is an intimate story, which leaves us happy memories, many of them associated with unforgettable characters such as Derossi, Garrone, "the bricklayer", Garoffi and Stardi, among others.
