The New Bible 1973 is the latest revision of the Holy Bible in the Tagalog language.
In 1902, the American Bible Society (ABS) and the British and Foreign Bible Society (BFBS) published the first Tagalog New Testament. Soon, the entire Bible was printed in 1905. The translation was called The Bible. This version has been enjoyed by Tagalog language users for a long time.
Like the first Bible, this revision is a formal translation. This means that the translators tried to faithfully reflect the form of the original Tagalog languages in the Bible, as far as their grammar and syntax allowed.
The Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia was used as the basis for the translation of the Old Testament for this revision. Although the 1881 Westcott-Hort Greek text was used for the New Testament of the first Bible, the translators of this revision used the United Bible Societies Greek New Testament 4th Edition.
