In the app, I get to the screen that says, "Press and hold the device switch button until the LED strip flashes..." When I connect power to the controller (SP511E), all the LEDs immediately come on with a sort-of rainbow along its length. "Press and hold the button" does nothing. Perhaps my controller has a hardware problem. Maybe I need to just toss the controller and start over? What communication protocol is used between the app and the controller?

Terrible. Tried for 30mins to connect to the controller with my phone and this app, both automatically and manually, and could NOT get it to do anything. Flipping it to IR mode to use the remote with the controller and clicking Red doesn't give me red. Same with green and blue. I can only assume I need the controller connected to the app to fix this...but I can't. I'm returning all of it and deleting this app from my phone.

I use this for all of my led strips. Set up can be wonky sometimes, but it always works after a few tries, if not at first. My only gripe with this app is that you can't log into it on multiple devices. Makes it impossible for more than one person in a home to use the app. Also, it would be nice if the app had rooms you could group the lights into so you can control them all at the same time. It can be done on Google Home, but those apps don't let you use different led patterns.
