About this game

I'm not usually very happy when asked to review a game after only playing a level or two, I like to get a clear idea of it first. But I've just recently finished Tiny Robots & it's enough to recognize a distinct aesthetic, even if it's only the 2ⁿᵈ I've played. The artwork is stylish & atmospheric, the puzzles original & pitched at just the right level for me: neither too hard not too easy & always varied & interesting. A cut above all other escape room games except Kiari's Tiny Room Mystery.

The second in the series, Doors: Origins provides another set of beautifully realised interactive dioramas which are designed to be poked, prodded and played with. The goal of each level is to unlock the door to progress to the next. This involves solving the puzzles contained within the larger interactive environment. The difficulty curve is steeper than the previous title, but returning players will quickly feel at home. Secret items, unlockable levels and achievements for completionists.

Gorgeous graphics, clever puzzles; but even the more complex ones only take 10-30 minutes to complete, and only the first 8 levels are free. After that you have to pay... but there are only 18 levels in the whole game - 8 free, 8 you have to pay for, and 2 unlockable epilogues. I can't see this being worth paying for, to get at most three days more entertainment before the game is done. If you want my money, then beautiful graphics aren't enough, I want sustainable, long-term gameplay, too.
