About this app

ABOUT THE BIG ISSUE EBIKES APP
The Big Issue eBikes app lets you rent affordable electric bikes in several cities across the UK, and is one of the first eBike schemes of its kind. We create new Living Wage jobs for unemployed and vulnerable people in your area. What’s more, we help take cars off the road improving air quality for everyone. Welcome to #BikingForGood

HOW IT WORKS
Download the app, then create and authorise your account in seconds by confirming your phone number and/or email. Select your town/city, pick a ride plan (pay as you go, or pay monthly), add a payment method, scan the QR code on the eBike, and you are ready to start your ride. You’ll find the nearest available eBike on the map or your personal dashboard. The dashboard also includes a weather forecast, your personal trip counter, and more...

Features include:
• Register in seconds, selecting your town/city, and ride plan
• Find your nearest eBike on the map
• Unlock the eBike by scanning the QR code on the handlebars
• Track your full trip and payment history

Fun to ride but pay as you go is far too expensive and subscription option is pricey too, particularly if only in town a couple of days a week and it only gives you first 10 mins per ride included in subscription, you have to pay for extra minutes. Since parking areas have been reduced it's harder to find a bike anywhere on my way home south out of Bristol, making subscription plan even harder to get any value from. App often takes a minute to let you stop ride, which then costs more.

DO NOT USE! If you top up £5, they take out £50!!! Only wanted one journey and been ripped a new one. They don't answer customer support. My bank has even advised to dispute it and they taking over after seeing dodgy faults on app, as don't like to see their customers ripped off. Refusing to credit back! Rip off, catch the bus

Bikes are expensive to hire. £3.80 just for a couple of minutes then £0.20 a minute to a maximum of £12 a day. But there's a monthly subscription... That removes the deposit and brings the charge down to £0.12 a minute. Subscriptions shouldn't come with additional charges. Imagine if Netflix or Disney+ charged you per episode or per movie on top of your subscription and you have the cheek to charge up to £12 a day on top of a £20 a month subscription
