The International Day of Peace, observed on September 21 each year, is intended to foster peace and end violence globally. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1981 as a day of non-violence and ceasefire, becoming over time a universal call to reflect on conflicts and the importance of peace.

The main purpose of Peace Day is to raise awareness and commitment in the search for peaceful solutions to the various challenges facing humanity, ranging from international and local conflicts to inequalities, discrimination, armed violence and violations of human rights. It aspires to motivate individuals, communities and nations to collaborate in the construction of a more equitable, sustainable and peaceful world.

The date of September 21 was selected in relation to the opening of the United Nations General Assembly. During this day, events, educational activities and campaigns are carried out around the planet in order to raise awareness of the relevance of peace and encourage the adoption of peaceful approaches to conflict resolution.

Peace today in this world of wars is the most important thing.
