About this app

The School of Rock Method is a unique way to learn to play guitar, bass, drums, keys, and music. Students are assigned songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience, and ability to learn new skills and concepts. Students then work through their parts in weekly private music lessons, and refine the skills and concepts that those songs introduce. The goal of this curriculum is to prepare kids and teens for live performances.

The Method App is built around School of Rock's unique performance-based approach, that allows teachers to assign songs and exercises to their students, and allows students to get automatic feedback to their playing directly within the app.

Parents can also use this app to monitor their child's progress, review their practice history, and view assignments and comments from their School of Rock instructor.

Note: An eligible enrollment at a School of Rock location is required to gain access to this app.

Learning to read music is one of the most difficult things the musician can do. This app doesn't allow you to make the music any bigger. Therefore, all the music and it is completely illegible, making this app completely useless. Even on an iPad, it's still too small to read. The midi pplayback is uninspiring to say the least, and it is very slow to load songs. I can not get a single student to use it, and I have wasted multiple lessons trying to get this app to perform the way it's supposed to.

This was great until I started getting into the 7th module or so of my class book. It consistently munges the recording so the music it shows vs. the recording are off sync. Even if I play an exercise PERFECTLY it gives me a score in the 60s because it's off sync. PLEASE fix this. I'm a software test engineer by trade and would gladly help if I could only get back to having the opportunity to submitting the 97% or higher scores of pieces I work so hard on. Steps to reproduce on both my tablet and mobile device are sadly easy: - Hit record - the first take might actually be legit. If I don't exit the exercise and go back in (and often even if I do) the resulting recording will end as many as 3-4 bars too early despite containing the full length of the exercise. If you hit Play on the resulting recording you can hear that it contains the entire tune but as it progresses you can see the recording 'rushing' and losing sync with the shown music. Even just scrolling to the end without playing you can see the recording cuts off several bars too early. My teacher and I have had to resort to his simply watching/listening to me play each piece live and giving me the thumbs up to move ahead. SO frustrating!

Works well. Some bugs, it backs completely on Android sometimes and the whole app has to reload. Also when you go into a select song, and then back out, it resets to the top on the selections list, instead of going back to the part of the list you were looking at. Only 50 songs to choose from. Would like more.
