About this app

Access an entire bookshelf of rock climbing, bouldering, and backcountry skiing guidebooks on your Android device, even beyond the reach of cell phone coverage. rakkup reinvents the outdoor guidebook for the smartphone era.

We've partnered with Beacon Guidebooks, Wolverine Publishing, and other authors and publishers around the world to bring you rich guidebooks complete with color photos and topo drawings.

Browse climbs and ski descents on a map or in the list format of your choice, filter and search in seconds, then navigate using your phone's GPS with a single tap. The app navigates you through the trail system to your climb, turn by turn, and tracks your backcountry snow adventures with offline topo maps and slope angle shading.

Why does the back button exit the app? This is the most annoying issue with the app and is inconsistent with Android app function. Next are the tiny arrows that are difficult to press to move around the sections. This attempt to reinvent the wheel has not succeeded, in my opinion. The filters are lacking when looking at climb lists. You cannot even filter by number of pitches. Are single pitch and multi pitch routes not differentiated? Given the opportunity, I'd rather lug around a paper copy

Hi Brian, thanks for posting. The back button isn't intended to exit the app - our logs show you encountered a crash that has been fixed in version 21.2. The back button should work correctly now. Please do let us know at support@rakkup.com if it does not! We'd also be pleased to discuss navigation and appreciate your suggestion about pitch count.

Great idea, bit so many lags. Keeps crashing on different phones. Many features just doesn't work. And after years it doesn't seem to be much updates to fix these issues. It could be great, but with those problems I'm moving back to mountain project. At least there I can Tick what I've climbed!

pros: - GPS/location - multiple pics of routes - good descriptions of access cons: - you can't download for offline mode and thus you can't use the app in areas with low service - not enough details regarding the routes (ie. number bolts, height of route, hazards, changes, etc) - can't make any personal comments or notes on routes or crags - not very user friendly; too finicky and bugs out often

Hi, thanks for your review. However, all our guidebooks download for complete access offline and most of our users climb with rakkup in places with no cell service at all. We recently added the ability to make personal notes for iPhone users and it's coming very soon to Android too! Thanks for the upvote for this :)
