The Constitution of the Republic of Korea is the highest law that regulates the political organization of the Republic of Korea and the rights and duties of its citizens. It applies to areas where the sovereignty of the Republic of Korea extends. It consists of a preamble, 130 articles in the main text, and 6 supplementary provisions. Based on the Provisional Constitution of the Republic of Korea enacted by the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, the Constitution was enacted with the establishment of the Government of the Republic of Korea in 1948 and has been revised nine times since then.
