THE LITTLE RED HEN

1st The story is intended to instill in children the value of hard work and initiative. A farm hen discovers some wheat and plans to bake bread with it. She enlists the assistance of the other farm animals to plant it, but they resist. The hen then harvests the wheat and mills it into flour before baking it into bread; she asks the animals for assistance at each point, but they refuse. Finally, the hen completes her mission and asks for assistance in eating the bread.
