About this app

Fire sprinkler design is very much dependent on local authority and codes. However, its underlying design principles are the same internationally. This sprinkler app contains some common design tools as follows:
1) QKP formula - the K-factor formula in K=Q/(P)^0.5 is used to calculate the discharge flow rate from a nozzle or flow outlet.
2) K-Factor units conversion tool - there are expressed in a few different units, and it can be confusing.
3) Hazen-Williams friction loss calculator - the most commonly adopted method to determine pressure drop due to friction loss in pipework.
4) Flow balancing at hydraulic junction - at hydraulic junction points, flow balancing is necessary since there can be only one pressure at any point.
5) Restriction orifice plate calculator - Orifice plate is fitted in fire piping system to create certain pressure loss and reduce flow to achieve the desired hydraulic balance.
6) Beam obstruction - a convenient look-up table for dimension requirements, especially when you are at site.
7) NFPA 3-point pump curve limits - NFPA 20 controls the fire pump performance curve to avoid very steep curve.
8) NFPA density/area curve - find density or area for given hazard groups.
9) Density/area calculation - calculates number of sprinkler in design area, sprinkler flow and pressure.
