Altes Land am Elbstrom

Cycling or hiking, whether on holiday or as a day trip, with the "Altes Land am Elbstrom" app you have a reliable companion through one of the most beautiful regions along the Elbe. Between Hamburg and Cuxhaven lies the Altes Land with its picturesque farm shops and cafés surrounded by over 18 million fruit trees, as well as the maritime Hanseatic cities of Stade and Buxtehude.

Seven long-distance cycle paths, such as the famous Elbe Cycle Path, and twelve regional themed tours, including the well-known "Fruit Route", are waiting to be cycled. The app offers hikers a selection of tours on different themes and levels of difficulty, suitable for walkers, families or long-distance hikers and some of them are barrier-free.

The individual tour planner invites you to plan and record your own tours and thanks to the option of being able to conveniently save all tours offline, no mobile network is required to navigate the route.

Information on various sights and natural features along the routes, the most beautiful places, excursion destinations, service offers and information on arrival and departure, diversions or current route closures on the tours, the weather and museums as well as accommodation in the region are in the app also available.

The audio guide can be activated as a layer in the app and makes it easy to find and play audio content.

State-of-the-art card technology
Of course, the latest map technology is available to you in the app. In case you get lost or need help, we use an accurate coordinate identifier called "what3words" which can be accessed and shared via the compass on the map. In this way, emergency services can be informed of your exact location.

Note on GPS usage​
Using the app in the background with GPS tracking enabled can dramatically decrease battery life. To maximize battery life, we recommend closing the app when not in use or when pre-downloading it.
