Unterwegs im Naturschutzgebiet

Experience the beauty of the landscape and discover the flora and fauna of the nature reserves in the Stuttgart administrative district. The interactive tours of our app “On the way in the nature reserve” take you GPS-assisted to points of interest in the area and offer a wealth of interesting information in the form of texts, images and numerous audio clips.

On an audio guide tour, listen to a speaker guide you through the grounds, learn about the voices of birds and grasshoppers, and hear what the shepherd has to say. Deepen your knowledge of species on a "fauna and flora tour" and discover curiosities from the animal and plant kingdom. Or go on a “puzzle tour” with your children: Follow the route on the map to various stations in the area. Those who correctly answer all the questions and riddles there can even find a "treasure" at the end!

The application is based on the cartography of the Outdooractive platform and offers different base maps, switchable levels and the determination of your own position in the area. The Skyline Augmented Reality feature uses your phone or tablet's camera to show you the names of peaks, cities, lakes, cliffs, ridge lines, mountain passes and even glaciers at a distance of up to 30 km.

The tours appeal to different groups of visitors: audio guide tours offer entertaining knowledge for all visitors. A puzzle tour makes the walk entertaining for children or provides the framework for a class trip. And if you are already familiar with the local flora and fauna, you may find surprising new facts in the fauna and flora tours.

Each tour has a description with information on the length of the tour, time required, altitude profile, difficulty, nature of the tour and pictures. You can use the "Directions" button to plan your journey by car or public transport. Tips e.g. B. to stop or sightseeing and a weather forecast for the destination complete the overview.

Map and tours can be saved offline in order to be independent of the mobile network connection in the area.


By linking to the Outdooractive platform, many functions of the Outdooractive community can be used. For some of these functions a free Outdooractive user account is required, which can be easily set up directly from the app. You can then use voice navigation to guide you through the tours, for example, but also ask questions about a tour, rate a tour, add your own photos or record and save your own tours for your personal use.

“On the way in the nature reserve” was developed on behalf of the Stuttgart Regional Council and is continuously being supplemented with further tours.
